Green Synthesis of Ag NPs Using Ustilago maydis as Reducing and Stabilizing Agent

Ustilago maydis (UM) is a fungus that grows naturally on Zea mays; it reduces the corn yields, and thus, represents huge economic loss; however, can be used as an exotic food, in present work, successfully reducing stabilizing agent for preparation of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) due to its content amino acids biosurfactants. The effects concentration UM aqueous extract, pH, sunlight particle size, surface plasmon resonance, stability, morphology Ag NPs obtained by green synthesis were evaluated. A reduction was observed only presence UM, colloidal with or without sunlight; nevertheless, continuous exposure greatly increased reaction rate. tend increase size from 153 nm 1400 at higher pH greater amount also, tends stabilize preventing their agglomeration according measurement zeta potential (−10.75 ± 0.84 mV) SEM observation; furthermore, resonances more intense between 400 480 wavelength adding UM. This study concludes not AgNO3 but also acts stabilizer NPs.
